On July 25, 2002 David Kenneth Waldman founded To Love Children Educational Foundation International Inc (TLC) registered in the state of California as a 501(c)3 international nongovernmental organization (NGO)and presently headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. David has devoted himself exclusively to work for sustainable educational development of the girl child in the developing world in order to break the cycle of poverty. David understands the importance and urgency to assist all girl children with economic, social and culturally appropriate educational programs that prepare girls for an improved quality of life. His work is based on the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. David hopes to assist the world’s girl children to develop opportunities in order to express her voice. This David assumes will call more direct attention to the girl child’s cycle of despair and poverty. David began his career by teaching in elementary schools in 1976. He went on to sell educational textbooks to elementary, secondary schools and colleges in 1980. In 1985, he founded a children's publishing company and named it after his mother, Rebecca House International Publishing. David focused on children’s literature that expanded children's horizons. In 1997, David started his Masters program in International Relations at Golden Gate University, San Francisco. His concentration was in international human rights for children, which provided him with the education he needed in order to create To Love Children which is not based on theory alone, but also is modeled after proven practitioner development practices. David has over 33 years devoted to the education of children. David hosted and produced a television program called To Love Children in which he interviewed both educators and organizations regarding important children's development, education and policy issues. His radio show, Twilight Readings was heard on Broadcast Services for the Blind was the only radio show reading children’s literature for blind children in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. David Kenneth Waldman has been involved with children in various different ways now for over 43 years. David was a baby-sitter in The Bronx for single mothers at thirteen. He was a counselor at a summer camp at fifteen, and worked with children from underprivileged and lower income families residing in New York City. At twenty-two David started his teaching career as an elementary school teacher, David included hands on programs that taught his children about the special needs of children not as lucky as they were. David sold multicultural history secondary textbooks at twenty-nine years of age that increased his international awareness. David started to write children’s books with universal appeal the age of thirty-two. At 45 David worked for an educational publishing company presented at teacher in-services the importance of including critical high order thinking skills when students conduct research. David’s first children's book Crystal Moonlight was published in January of 1990. He published The Changer by Tatiana Strelkoff in 1996. An audio cassette tape, How Teddy Bears find their Homes combines original stories with accompanying songs . The theme song To Love Children was introduced in 1988 and finally made available on cassette in 1997. David Kenneth Waldman is back working creatively working on two new books; a collection of cartoons he created with illustrator, co-partner, Kimberly Spuhler titled Just for Today and. David is now working on a new book titled When you Wish upon a Star, a collection of his children’s stories and poems from 1984 to 2009. Through all his activities, David has been motivated by a deep concern for girls and women in the developing world lack of access to human rights, the environment, sustainable development for women, social justice, health, clean water, sustainable educational development education, and peace for children. David has traveled to 44 countries in his quest for understanding the social and economic issues pertaining to children. David is always looking for ways to work directly with children that will use his experience and commitment. Currently he was named one of the International Advisors and Consultants to Uganda for World Peace Tour 4 Children.
