I’ve done this disturbing video for my final art project in college that was an installation. A projection of this video was made in a fur box with fireplace doors underneath two sculptures of human heads represented as hunt trophies. The video is linking humans and animals behaviors with striking parallels that are sometimes funny but others frightening. It is as well re-questioning human habits and behaviors towards animals and products made out of these creatures. In a civilized society where the human being is incredibly intelligent and where options are available to avoid the animal slaughter and mistreating, why do meat, fur, and animal testing companies and its cruelty still exists? Are the humans sometimes acting like animals? Furthermore, the medias are influencing a lot society ideas about animal made products which makes people forgetting how it’s done (ex: Leather isn’t seen as removed skins of animal bodies but represents luxury, comfort and richness). It is nice to say that the mistreating of animals is bad, but this speech was to match with the people’s way of acting and for it, seeing clear and knowing the truth about the actual animal treating conditions is indispensable. I hope the listening of my video will make you reflect and take a stand.
Thank you, Marie-Pier less «
