Currently pursuing graduate studies in Islamic Art and Architecture, Aida Eltorie is a correspondent at the Townhouse Gallery of contemporary art and a board member at the Arts Council Egypt (ACE). A graduate in visual arts, Eltorie has practiced arts and production management while working at the Townhouse Gallery. As a volunteer, intern, public relations consultant and very recently independent exhibition organizer at the gallery, she has acquired skills as project coordinator collaborating with the visual arts program director and associate curators. Tasks involved assisting with ongoing projects at all levels, with the artist, the client and the sponsor. Projects she has been involved in were the result of collaborations between The Townhouse Gallery and other institutions such as the American University in Cairo, International Museum of Women in San Francisco, and smaller independent spaces in the city, such as the Geneina Theatre. Since February 2006, Eltorie joined the ACE board, a new initiative founded by independent cultural centers across the city that have joined forces as private non-governmental and non-profit institutions to attend to problems and create support structure for the development of the contemporary arts in Egypt. In August 2006, Eltorie completed a course on international co-production management for performing arts sponsored by the Ford Foundation, and during the coming year she will pursue curatorial programs in museum's in New York.
