I am originally from Waterloo Ontario Canada but am currently living in Brisbane, Australia. I was born and raised in Waterloo, before heading to Sudbury, Ontario to study a 4 year honours degree in Zoology. Upon completion of my degree I got an itch to travel and teach - naturally I headed to Australia. I have been teaching Science (mostly Biology) in Cleveland, Queensland (a suburb of Brisbane) for the past 3 years and loving every minute of it! I try my hardest to integrate awareness and global citizenship in my lessons and push my students to believe their voice and actions can make all the difference in the world - they just have to want it bad enough and be prepared to shout (to be heard). I also investigate using various technologies in my classroom to engage students in learning. I have initiated various environmental and sustainability programs here at our school including; A reef guardianship and environmental club and a week long scuba and snorkelling trip to Lady Elliot Island on the Great Barrier Reef. I am very passionate about the environment and the animals that inhabit them and hope my students recognise my own passions and develop their own. One person can make a difference - and I hope I can be living proof to my students that is possible.
