I moved from St. John's, Newfoundland to Ottawa in 2002. Since then, I've visited the island many times but mostly to visit friends and family. This past summer, I went back with my boyfriend who had never been to Newfoundland.Visiting my hometown as a tourist really made me appreciate my own identity as both a Newfoundlander and a Canadian. Getting away from your hometown for a few years allows you to appreciate its beauty in a fresh and holistic way. less «
