Description:
Ten learners from East Bank High School in Alexandra Township, Johannesburg documented the repercussions of school-dropouts in their community. Their photos and videos were displayed at a community exhibition for their family members, peers, and community members to see. The project was part of an Umuzi Photo Club initiative to give youth a platform for their voices to be heard. This photo essay was created by Morgan Faku who wanted to show the repercussions of dropping out of school several years down the line. The woman he photographed lives in the "Cat-boxes" which are cardboard shacks in Alexandra Township. less «
