He is a Final Year undergraduate of the National Institute of Social Development – Sri Lanka studying towards a Bachelors of Social Work degree. Dakshitha is the Secretary for 2012/14 of the Youth Technical Advisory Committee of the Family Planning Association Sri Lanka (Member Association of International Planned Parenthood Federation - IPPF) in which he is involved in HIV/AIDS prevention, policy making, advocacy and promoting sexual and reproductive health rights. He has been trained regionally in 2012, as a PEER EDUCATOR from Y PEER International and conducts peer education trainings on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) both locally and internationally. Currently, he is the National Focal Point for Youth LEAD Sri Lanka which highlights and works for the values of the Young Key Affected Populations (YKAPs) in the HIV epidemic nationally and in the Asia Pacific Region. Basically Youth LEAD works with Young Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), Young Injected Drug users, Young Commercial Sex Workers, Young People Living with HIV (PLHIV), Young Internally Displaced People (IDP). Dakshitha is also a “Youth Champion” of the Youth Advocacy Institute which was conducted by the Asia Safe Abortion Partnership on Safe Abortion Rights in Mumbai 2012. Dakshitha likes to blog and write articles about issues related to SRH rights, gender and Key Affected Populations. He is also a Toastmaster and the Vice President Membership of the IPM Toastmasters Club - 2012/13 and delivers speeches on Youth involvement in policy level and barriers faced by young people.
