He is a young HIV/AIDS activist who believes that meaningful youth participation is required in... read more Erasmus, 24, is the National Focal Point for Zambia for the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS. He is a young HIV/AIDS activist who believes that meaningful youth participation is required in order to accelerate progress in the AIDS response. Erasmus is the Founder of Youth Activism for Change (YAfC) and he is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW). In December 2011, he hosted a UNAIDS CrowdOutAIDS Offline Open Forum where he advised UNAIDS on the first ever crowdsourced UN strategy of working with young people on HIV. In February 2012, Erasmus was selected as a suitable representative for Zambia at the World Youth Congress 2012 in Rio de Janeiro. In July 2012, he was selected as a youth representative at the African Development Bank High Level Policy Dialogue on Youth Employment in Africa. As the current GYCA National Focal Point for Zambia, Erasmus is working on a project which will lead to the establishment of a youth resource centre in Zambia with a focus on youth sexual reproductive health education and services.
