Laketa’s true gift is the ability to encourage and inspire others to believe in their dreams through entrepreneurship. Laketa love for entrepreneurship is immeasurable. Laketa is a serial entrepreneur; she traveled to China in 2005 on a venture to launch a couture handbag collection designed for the business woman on the go. Laketa visited and built relationships with Chinese manufacturers and now is working on her third venture, R U Ready 4 BIZness the first entrepreneurship inclusion trivia game/curriculum for high school students. Laketa’s holds a bachelor’s degree in management; a master’s in entrepreneurship and currently pursuing a doctorate, dissertation focus is Designing An Inclusion Entrepreneurship Program for High Schools. Laketa created a program that teaches special needs youth how to start and run their own businesses, fulfilling an underserved need to the special education population. Many students with cognitive impairments are able to learn logistics of entrepreneurship. The barriers can be defeated with the right system in place. Laketa’s program teaches hands-on product development, marketing research, branding, and manufacturing, raising capital, intellectual property and developing a business plan.
