The Tree Nobody Liked
I am stretched out across the carpet of my floor, painting a watercolor of a tree, based on a photograph torn from a National Geographic magazine when I was in ninth grade. (I frequently tear out images from magazines for artistic inspiration.) Have you ever felt so moved by a picture that you felt the only way to show honor and tribute to such a touching image would be to sit down and analyze it, piece by piece, shade by shade, stroke by stroke with your brush? I have felt the emotion captured with the single click of a camera. In the most unexpected moments and strangest of ways, we discover and stumble upon beauty; it is all around us. This is the tale of the tree that nobody liked.
