To understand where you live is to understand where you belong... Introduced predators are destroying the balance of New Zealand’s Southern Beech Forests. Rattus rattus, is forced to understand a new way of life and shows you how he sees the forest he calls home. The beauty of the forest, home to many native animals, is shown from a fresh perspective, letting you question preconceived opinions and how ecology dictates sustainability The University of Otago and Natural History New Zealand (NHNZ Ltd.) have combined efforts to form the Post-Graduate Diploma in Natural History Filmmaking and Communication course, where students are given a $1500 budget, and less than 9 months to create a 24 minute documentary. The films are then screened at The Regent Theatre in Dunedin. This year the venue was sold out for the first time and over 1800 people attended.
