Recycling in Taipei

This is example of the many ways in which the City of Taipei is a leader in implementing environmentally-responsible policy. It has the most stringent waste disposal requirements in all of Taiwan. If you look closely, there are three separate receptacles for used beverage containers; one for plastic bottles, one for metal cans and one for cardboard containers, as well as a garbage can for general waste. Given how space is at a premium, it only makes sense to divert as much waste from landfills as possible. If only my own country [Canada] could be so pro-active. But I'm afraid that we have the luxury of far too much space at our disposal.
