The silence of death is perhaps both the most frightening and the most fascinating silence to us. As humans, we are born into a world of movement and sound. We live out our lives engulfed in the chaotic noise around us. The concept of complete and total silence is strange to us as it is...but what if there were no afterlife, as some people believe? What then? An eternity of silence? How often do we take the time to ponder a phrase like "Silent as the Grave"? Each tombstone stands for one more person, one more who has entered a world of silence that one day, we ourselves will face.
