Ibn An-Nafis, the famous medieval Arab Muslim medical figure, was the first to discover the blood cycle in the human body. He was born in Damascus, where he learnt jurisprudence, literature and theology, al along with his specialization: physical sciences, he spent some time as a scholar in Cairo too.
