Manuel Dayrit gained his undergraduate degree at the Ateneo de Manila University where he graduated with honorable mention. He finished medicine at the College of Medicine at the University of the Philippines. He was able to get the Mark of Distinction when he took his Master of Science at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Dayrit has received professional training as a physician, medical epidemiologist and public health manager. He has served in community hospitals before working with the Department of Health. He has been head of various departments and bureaus while in DOH. He is a member of various fellowships and professional associations and is currently President of the Philippine Society of Epidemiology.
