As with all my paintings there is a story behind the paint on the canvas.

THe title is called flee by night and in essence that is what the goal of her days are. She is in an abusive relationship, and with her self esteem gone, her face battered, and fear embedded beneath her skin, she can find the courage to leave this prison he has her in, although she knows she has to and needs the courage to. The branch across her face is the one thing standing in her way of leaving. The branch itself signifying courage...all she has to do it gather it up and like that branch she can push it aside, break the branch and run to her freedom. I didn't place a moutain in front of her but rather beneath her; she has passed those large hurdles by realising that she needs to release herself from that lifestyle, therefore now she has the last stretch to go. The flower by the side of her face is there for the intent of portraying herself in the form of the flower. IT is a rich blood red for passion, and the purpose for using the flower is that it is fragile like her, but when you look at the flower it exposes itself to be heavy, as though it could withstand a windstorm and still survive; a perfect comparison.

There is more to the painting, but that is to be discovered on your own.' - AD
