In late 2000 Martin joined Michael Furdyk and Jennifer Corriero, founders of TakingITGlobal, in developing strategy and a technology platform for the nascent organisation, consistently setting the standard for youth engagement in international decision-making processes and local activism through its award-winning online community, TakingITGlobal.org. As TakingITGlobal's Senior Technologist, Martin plays a key role in the ongoing process of technological innovation at the organisation, particularly leading the development of the TIG Groups and Youth Pass Online Identity systems. He also played lead roles in the development of online communities for Sunnybrook Hospital's PARTY Program, and Chat the Planet, as well as web-based applications for Open Family Australia, and the Canadian Junior Chamber. Martin has spoken on the topics of education, social networks, and online communities to a multitude of audiences in Canada and Overseas, such as the Shad Institute for Teachers and The Learning Partnership in Toronto, and the Faculty of Architecture at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, Slovakia. He has also provided advice to the Cultural Services group at France's New York embassy and the Youth Employment Summit Tanzania campaign, and, as a judge with the Web Marketing Association's WebAwards, to web developers around the world.
