In January 2001 I volunteered on a marine conservation expedition to Madagascar with Frontier, The Society for Environmental Exploration. My role as a Research Assistant involved cataloguing various species found in and around the coral reef environment. In January 2002 I participated in another marine conservation expedition to Andros Island in the Bahamas with Greenforce Conservation Expeditions. On this expedition I learned more about reef health, as there was a greater emphasis on the effects of environmental and human impacts on the coral reef environment. The data for each project are being used to create and monitor marine protected areas. I am a NAUI Rescue Diver and a BSAC Dive Leader. I continue to build on my Scuba Diving skills. Through work and volunteering I hope to gain further knowledge of the marine environment.
