Qaisar Roonjha is brought up and schooled from Lasbela Balochistan,he has been active doing social and volunteer work since the age of nine,He is the founder and CEO of several initiatives... read more Qaisar Roonjha is brought up and schooled from Lasbela Balochistan,he has been active doing social and volunteer work since the age of nine,He is the founder and CEO of several initiatives including WANG – an NGO which focuses on raising awareness of human rights, sexual health, girls’ rights, HIV/AIDS, and anti-poverty micro-entrepreneurship initiatives across Balochistan, concentrated particularly near the Afghan/Iran border. He is also the founder of AMAL – a social enterprise theatre group which uses theatre to address taboo social and health issues. While only 22, Qaisar’s work has already been recognized by organizations in his native Pakistan and globally including Y-PEER International, Drug Free Pakistan Foundation, Taking IT Global, Vienna Youth Force on HIV/AIDS, Pakistan’s National Youth Task Force on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and DO School. Qaisar’s work runs the gamut – from grass-roots development work (see description of WANG above) to advocacy to policy – - indeed, he has been a member of the National Youth Parliament of Pakistan since 2010. His development work includes community workshops and trainings in issues including: Leadership, Change management, communication skills, , Social Media, Activism,girls’ rights, sexual and reproductive health, human rights, social enterprise, micro-entrepreneurship, youth engagement, cross-cultural understanding and safe motherhood. His advocacy work has focused largely on these same issues, and working with agencies including USAID, UNFPA, World Population Foundation, Do School and Soliya, he has brought critical social issues from the grass-roots to governmental policy platforms including the Parliament. In sum, Qaisar’s work has contributed to each of the Development Goals articulated by the world. In addition to his activism, Qaisar is a regular contributor to various local and national newspapers, like Express Tribune and other local Urdu News papers . he has been recognized for his work by the British Council, as a Global Changemaker and as a Lead Facilitator for its Active Citizens programme, as National Focal Point by Y-PEER Pakistan,as Global Photography winner by Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS,as a Global Adviser for Taking It Global, and as a Member of the National Youth Parliament of Pakistan. His work has also earned him recognition as Young Champion of the Year for Pakistan by Save the Children.
