Climate Change and Cities - Youth Art

CALL FOR ART

Join youth from across the planet in envisioning climate friendly cities by sharing your artistic perspective of the city you would want to live.

Contribute your vision along with students from across the planet as they share artistic opinion on climate change and civic engagement for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Conference in Edmonton, Canada, which will take place in March, 2018.

Art holds great potential to influence researchers and policy-makers through its ability to express knowledge, vision, and perspective in unique and powerful ways - and we need your voice and art expression for the IPCC Climate Change and Cities Conference.

Theme
There are many ways to artistically approach the topic of Climate Change and Cities. Some options include displaying artistic representations of:
What are the effects of climate change on your city? Consider who in your community is most negatively impacted by climate change and why.
When you imagine a “good life” in your home city for yourself and for those who come after you, what does it look like?
How does your city contribute to climate change (i.e. by local industries, people’s behaviors/practices)?

Format
We encourage all forms of art!
3D, 2D, found art, recycled, stenciled, painted, and the list goes on! Get creative by any means possible.
You as students may facilitate your own projects or participate in a group art collective.

Submit by February 4 to have your art considered for display in materials for the IPCC Conference and The Centre for Global Education.
Submit by March 1 to have your art considered for exhibition at the IPCC Conference events and/or inclusion in a youth position paper to be presented to IPCC researchers and policy-makers.

NOTE: If your artwork is selected for print materials or exhibition (print or digital), we will contact you directly.

Who is the IPCC? The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the international body for assessing the science related to climate change.
