Running On Empty
The social concern was how the “millennial” generation (youth ages 29 and younger) will be forced to take care of the baby boomers (ages 46 to 64) in the future. Due to the large population of baby boomers in society now, it will be difficult for the younger millennial generation to find the social and financial means to support this ageing group of people. The life machine represents the millennial generation that also shows how technology will replace the people. The life machine also doubles as a money machine, with coin slots and digital screens that display the amount of money needed to continue supplying life to the man. The old man represents the dependence on our generation to supply the health and financial needs of the boomers, without having enough money to satisfy the large population.
