I often meditate on the amount of freedom I have had since immigrating to Canada. How easy it was to play with neighbouring kids, walk at night and live in a home where you don't need to lock the doors. Safety has always been a concern for me and currently I work at the University of Toronto preparing students who go abroad on how to mitigate risk. All of this came from my roots in South Africa, but the wings I found in Canada.
