From Residential Schools to Reconciliation: A Celebration of Art & Writing

As part of Alberta’s Project of Heart, students from across the province are invited to share their writings and artwork that depict their understanding of the people of Alberta’s journey towards reconciliation. The celebration is open to grades 1 to 12. Participants may submit works of art, poetry, film, video or writings in this celebration. On May 24th, students will be connecting globally through video conference technology for a LIVE conversation on how we can continue our journey towards reconciliation. The top art pieces from each category (K-2, 3-6, 7-9, & 10-12) will be added to Alberta’s Project of Heart as well as being specially featured on the TakingITGlobal Global Gallergy. Student artwork and essays can be submitted up until May 30th. All submissions will be evaluated according to the Official Celebration Rules and Rubric Guiding Questions: How can you foster positive relationships to create a safe and caring school community? What does reconciliation look like in your school community? How can you contribute to reconciliation in your school community? What does Reconciliation mean to you? For more information, please visit: LINK To submit student work, please upload it to this Global Gallery set or email to encounters@tiged.org.
